SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA
What is sickle cell anaemia? It is a severe hereditary form of anaemia in which a mutant form of haemoglobin distorted the red-blood cell Into a sticky and cresent shape with low level of oxygen.
Normally your red blood cells are round, flexible moving through your blood vessels. In sickle cell anaemia the red blood cells become rigid, sticky and Cresent shape, this irregular shape can get stuck in the blood vessels blocking movement of blood and oxygen
Sickle cell is a serious hereditary disease cause by an abnormal shape of the red blood cells
CAUSES OF SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA
It is cause by the red iron rich compound call haemoglobin that gives blood it red colour the haemoglobin allowed red blood cells to carry oxygen from lungs to all. Part. Of the body. The sickle cell is sticky and mishape. The sickle cell gene is pass from generation to generation in a pattern of inheritance called autosomal recessive inheritance, this means that both the mother and father must pass on the defective gene for the child to be affected, if one parent pass the sickle cell gene to the child that child will have the sickle cell trait with one normal haemoglobin and defective form of gene. During pregnancy two people with sickle cell trait haves
1)26 percent chance of having unaffected child with normal haemoglobin.
2) 30 percent chance of having who also is a carier
EFFECT OF SICKLE. CELL ANAEMIA
3) 25.percent chance of having a child with sickle cell anaemia.
2) failure of blood supply to the brains leading to paralysis.
1) failure of blood supply to the muscle leading to rheumatism.
5) loss of energy
3) failure of blood supply to the Intestines leading to severe abnormal pain.
4) it could lead to heart failure.
3) head and leg swollen.
6) if not properly treated can lead to dealth.
SYMPTOMS OF SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA
1) periodic pain.
2) loss of energy.
4) delay growth.
2) there should be enlightenment to the general public.
5) frequent infection and vision problems.
PREVENTION OF SICKLE CELL ANAEMIA
1) genotype test before marriage
